On a day perfect for open rugby, Tows were not to disappoint as they stunned Lutterworth with two quick opening tries and set the scene for their second win of the season against their visitors.

Tows kicked off on their hard baked pitch in front of a large crowd of Lutterworth travelling supporters – having their annual away day, but 2 quick tries from Colt Aaron Goodman and Richard Tustian converted by Marc Yeates soon quietened their ebullient mood. Lutterworth did respond with a penalty, and it then looked as if Lutts had steadied themselves. Tows then had to fall back into to defence as Lutts rallied and their fiery pack came back strongly at them. However, with ball in hand the Tows backs always looked capable of scoring, and so it proved with when Goodman scored his 2nd try after splendid handling in the backs, Matt Yuill converting. In another Tows attack, the visitors backs came under pressure from a Goodman kick ahead, and as Lutts failed to clear their lines, Tows scrum half Stocks intercepted an over elaborate Lutts pass to stroll over for a try, allowing Tows to turn around 28Pts to 3 Pts ahead at half time.

In the third quarter of the game. More pressure from Tows allowed the dependable Yeates to secure three further penalties to take Tows clear. That said, Lutts were not finished as they continued to put the Tows scrum under pressure, only for Chris Kirby to save the situation time and again by cleaning up the ball to keep Tows on the front foot. Tows used this platform for their backs to successfully turn defence into attack, and by pinning Lutts in their own half, they allowed Stocks to find space to dance through from a scrum to score. Over enthusiasm from the unfortunate Stocks, then saw the yellow card for second time. Down to 14 men, Tows still remained competitive and forced a final penalty, which Yeates slotted consummately and give the home side a well earned 2 league points.
