Alderton, a South Northant’s village has made the surprise move to make a bid to host the Winter Olympics in 2018.

Parish Meeting chairman James Rudd said, “Today of all days, we announce our intention to formally bid to host the 2018 Winter Olympics. After the success of the village games in February 2009, I feel that we will be able to put on a good show.

“Certainly it will bring much needed business to Towcester and the surrounding villages for six weeks of the games.

“It also sits very well in the calendar avoiding most horse racing and motor sport events in the area.”

If anyone would like to know more about the bid drop me an email
